Frequently Asked Questions
What are the sessions like?
When it’s time for a session, you simply tap a button on your iPad. You’ll take your blood pressure and heart rate, then meet with your coach to talk about your progress and share any questions you have. Your coach will start an exercise video that’s been selected to give you just enough of a challenge, without pushing you too hard. You’ll exercise while your coach monitors you by video and tracks your breathing. Your coach can also answer questions or help you modify exercises. After the session, you’ll discuss any other needs you have, including your diet, medication questions or health education. A session can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes.
How long is the program?
The program is 36 supervised sessions, with 45 minutes for each. Typically, members participate in sessions 3 times per week, but Carda Health works with you to create a program that works well with your schedule.
How does Cardiac rehab help? Why is it recommended?
Cardiac rehab can have many health benefits in the short and long term, such as:
- Strengthening your breathing after a major heart issue or emergency
- Helping to relieve symptoms and issues
- Building healthier habits such as increasing physical activity
- Reducing stress and improving mood
- Improving your stamina, strength, and breathing for daily activities—from carrying groceries, climbing stairs, or spending time with loved ones
- Lowering your risk of future cardiac issues
I’ve always been active, and I feel like I can exercise on my own. Why do I need cardiac rehab?
After your heart issue or emergency, your doctor likely recommended you exercise, make changes to your diet or track your vitals. While these are things you could do on your own, having a structured program tailored to cardiac health and designed by your dedicated coach may help you stay on track and possibly lead to a longer, healthier life.
Do I need a doctor’s approval?
When you start the program, Carda will pull and review your medical history. We will always notify your doctor that you are enrolled and send regular progress updates. In most cases, we do not have to wait for approval to get started. If we do, Carda will work directly with your doctor to make sure you are participating safely.
